  • Public Mobile is one of the new wireless entrants and will be launching their service by mid-2010. CEO Alek Krstajic has been outspoken about his viewpoints on the recent Globalive decision where Industry Minister Tony Clement overturned the CRTC and allowed Globalive to launch their Wind Mobile brand. Krstajic believes “if you’re going to have one set of rules for him, have them for us as well” and also stated “we believe Cabinet’s decision is unfair to other wireless carriers, especially new entrants like Public Mobile that have played by the rules and secured substantial Canadian investment”. He requested the Federal Court to give more clarity on the decision.

  • Globalive brings on investment banks to expand WIND Mobile

  • Remember a few weeks ago when Globalive stated they were talking with a number of investment banks to raise “several hundred” million dollars for expanding their business. Well I guess it’s a done deal. Globalive today has “announced its intention to enter into a private debt financing for the purposes of continuing to expand the WIND Mobile network, create new distribution partnerships and for general working capital purposes”

  • Globalive Wireless Management Corp. confirmed expectations that it plans to raise additional funding from a debt offering to expand its wireless network in Canada, as it goes head-to-head against the country’s Canadian incumbent wireless carriers. Globalive has hired a group of Canadian and international investment banks to help it raise the debt financing. A spokeswoman for Globalive declined to comment on the banks. However, according to market talk, the investment banks include Morgan Stanley (MS), Credit Suisse Group (CS) and BMO Capital Markets, a unit of Bank of Montreal (BMO).

  • Globalive Wireless Management Corp. has announced it plans to enter into a private debt financing arrangement with the help of Canadian and international investment banks. Funds from the financing will be used to expand Wind Mobile, Globalive’s new wireless communications network. Globalive chairman and CEO Anthony Lacavera said Tuesday that under new securities rules he can’t disclose the underwriters’ names until the transaction closes in 60 to 90 days.

  • Low-cost wireless carrier Globalive Communication Corp’s plans to raise several hundred million dollars in debt for expansion in Canada are moving along but getting the money is not a done deal, its chairman said on Tuesday. Privately owned Globalive said it has hired Canadian and international investment banks to help it raise funds to expand its network, which it launched in Toronto and Calgary late last year under the Wind Mobile name. “There is interest but I would not describe it by any means as a slam dunk,” Globalive Chairman Anthony Lacavera said.
