CallNet had endured for five years tremendous resistance to change and regulatory upgrades, and had spearheaded huge regulatory battles that finally culminated (1991) in a review by the CRTC. This review produced new regulations enabling Canadians to benefit from competition in the long-distance telephone market, which today is a welcome necessity for consumers and industry.
